President's Message
My name is Mark Toombs and I am the President of the First State Bank of Rosemount. At the age of nine I began work at the First State Bank of Rosemount emptying trash cans for my dad who was then president of the Bank. I have been involved in banking in one way or another since then.
The First State Bank of Rosemount is a big part of the community of Rosemount. We would be nothing if it were not for the community we serve. That is why we give money yearly to the school district and schools, various booster clubs, school clubs and organizations. We contribute to the Rosemount Arts Center and sponsor the Steeple Center Tree Lighting ceremony each year. It isn’t just monetary contributions that make us a vital part of the community. The Bank has helped with financial literacy education at both the high school and the elementary school.
The First State Bank of Rosemount is an anchor in the downtown Rosemount community. The Bank has been in existence since 1909, and been owned by a member of the Toombs family since 1949, however a Toombs family member has worked here since 1919. We are the oldest family owned and operated business in Rosemount. The continuity of the Bank is special in this age of businesses that come and go. This continuity allows us to be a generational Bank. We have customers that have three or four generations of their family that have or currently bank with us. We have given people the opportunity to own their first house, buy their first car, or even open a new business. Those relationships matter! We do all that we can to truly build relationships that last.
We successfully navigated through a remodel this past year where we took the building down to the studs and built it back up, never having to close for a single business day. At our recent Remodel Celebration, we had a customer say that instead of feeling like you are walking into a bank, it feels like you are coming home. Besides the new building, we have added new products and services to the Bank, both modernizing and simplifying things for our customers. My hope for the future is that all of these changes, along with others that we are still working on, will continue to grow the Bank as well as allow us to continue to give back to the community.
The biggest thing that separates the First State Bank of Rosemount from both the big banks and other community banks is our commitment to the relationships that we build. So much of this industry is now automated. You can deposit a check without ever walking into the bank. You can get money out of your account at an ATM. You can swipe your phone at a checkout lane. It is critical to me and to the First State Bank of Rosemount that we never lose the personal touch and the relationships with our customers and the community. I look forward to beginning relationships with new customers and continuing to grow the relationships that we have with existing customers.
We are the First State Bank of Rosemount and we are Building Relationships that Last!
